Determining the Value of Links from Link Renting

What is Link Renting?
Link renting is a means to ‘rent’ the popularity and traffic flow of another site – you pay a monthly fee in return for a text link pointing to your site. In doing so, you can directly and indirectly drive more targeted traffic toward your website.

Many industries such as travel, pharmacy, pornography, and gaming have search results which are hyper competitive and require heavy advertising or aggressive SEO techniques. Some niche websites may see an even greater ROI on smart link rentals since many of their competitors may not include link renting in their online marketing budgets.

Some rented links provide great value in direct targeted traffic, whereas some other links provide greater value from the effect they have on search relevancy.

Most links are rented on a monthly basis with an option to renew at the end of the month. Some link prices can be as low as a few dollars a month whereas some can cost thousands per month.

There is no singular one-size-fits-all way to directly assume the value of a link. Most effective marketing has risks associated with it, but you can minimize the risks and maximize your return by breaking the value of the link down into its elements:

1. Direct traffic from link renting
2. Viral effect of advertising
3. Effects of link rentals on search relevancy.

1. Direct Traffic from Link Renting:

Link renting can drive significant direct traffic. The first things you need to know are:

* what is the quality level of the traffic?
* how related is this audience to my product?
* how much traffic does the site receive?

What is the Quality Level of the Traffic:

Where does the bulk of their traffic come from? Someone recently asked about ePilot, the pay per click search engine, at Search Engine Watch forums. Andrew Goodman replied "The first question I would ask myself would be: 'where does ePilot's traffic come from?' Answer isn't clear? Then it would be no surprise that the so-called traffic doesn't convert to anything."

This same concept holds true with any site. If you do not see any quality inbound links that could indicate a problem: or they could get most of their traffic from pay-per-click ads. Whatever the case, if you are going to spend money renting links for traffic, make sure you know where their traffic comes from.

How Related is the Audience:

It will be somewhat of a guesstimate as to how exactly how related the traffic will be, but generally it is fairly obvious when something is on theme or off theme. Some things you may want to consider when determining traffic quality:

* What is the mood / mind set of their traffic? Related traffic may not be traffic that converts. At the 2004 Webmaster World Las Vegas Conference a speaker mentioned that a website about prom hairstyles may not be a good place to advertise prom dresses since girls do not usually look at prom hairdos until after they have already purchased their prom dresses.
* What product should I advertise? Sometimes it makes sense to send traffic to your home page while other times it is more logical to advertise a specific product because it is hot or more related to that particular audience.

How Much Traffic Does the Site Receive:

Most honest webmasters who sell ad space understand that the traffic they receive is a large part of their ad value and should have no problems giving you that information.

Some systems such as Alexa also track traffic, but their statistics can be inaccurate due to their limited distribution.. The best way to use such systems is not for traffic estimates but for comparisons between sites. Note that Alexa has a heavy bias toward webmaster resource type sites. Additionally other companies such as Hitwise may provide more accurate traffic statistics.

From the base traffic level there is a bunch more research you can do to determine how much traffic the site may bring:

* Who currently advertises on the site? You may want to ask them about their advertising experience. Some ad networks such as AdBright show past advertisers average cost per click and ad renewal rates.
* How many ads are on the page? Each additional ad will split up some of the traffic.
* Where does your ad sit? Ads that are tucked away in the footer or in common ad space may get less exposure and drive less traffic. Ads near the content may gain additional exposure and drive more traffic.
* What ad formats can be used? Certain ad creatives may provide greater value than other ads.
* What is the ad turnover rate? Advertisers tend to stay with a site that delivers traffic. A high turnover rate may indicate other problems.
* Have advertisers made any suggestions? Ask if any of their past advertisers made any suggestions or stated that they found any particular setup as being especially helpful.
* Is the traffic seasonal? Some sites have large shifts in traffic volume due to seasonal factors.

2. Viral Effect of Advertising:
Some ads go through click tracking systems which may prevent them from being indexed by search engines. This means that the only value of those particular links would come from direct traffic. Sometimes ads lead to additional exposure though.

3. Effect of Link Rentals on Search Relevancy:

Many links have a greater indirect value than direct value.

When someone links to your site it is seen by search engines as a vote of quality. The anchor text and other page elements such as the page title and headers may also help search engines further classify the link. On image links the image alt text plays the roll of the anchor text.

On the commercial web many links are bought and sold, and thus for search engines to remain relevant they must find ways to regulate link purchasing.

Some of the things you may want to look for when buying links to help maximize your ROI and minimize your risks:

* Are the links direct links? Links that go through an ad server usually do not help build your link popularity.
* Is the page on theme? On topic links from industry hubs are given significantly more weighting in clustering or community based algorithms such as Teoma's topic distillation and Google's Hilltop. If the site allows off topic links then it has a greater chance of having its link popularity blocked or devalued.
* How many links are on the page? If a page sells an unlimited number of ads then the outbound link popularity is split up many ways, and that also could look a bit unnatural to search engines. If there are hundreds of internal links on a page then each additional link will be getting an exceptionally small share of link popularity.
* What anchor text can I use? If you can use descriptive anchor text then the value of the link is greater since the link text helps search engines understand what your site is about.
* What is the cost difference between site wide and individual page links? Generally site wide links may drive significantly more direct traffic, but likely they do not provide much additional weight beyond a single link from the best page on the site.
* What is the PageRank of the page? Generally many people place too much value on PageRank, but a higher PageRank does equate to greater connectivity and slightly additional value.
* Who links to the page and to the site? If the page or site is well connected within your topical community then search engines will likely consider links from it as being far more important than links from pages which are not as well connected.

Summary:
To best determine the value of a link you need to consider both its direct and indirect effects. Generally it is best to buy on topic links since they provide both direct and indirect value.

Don't Forget About Offline Advertising

A lot of online based businesses forget about offline advertising. It is important to combine offline and online advertising together in your marketing campaign. You can market offline more effectively by targeting people that actually have access to the internet. In all your advertising you want to include your web site address, e-mail or autoresponder addresses, and the

e-mail address to subscribe to your e-zine. Below are 10 offline marketing ideas:

-Place classified or full page ads in print publications. The print publications should be computer or internet related.

-Post flyers in stores. They could be computer stores, software stores, libraries etc.

-Buy mailing lists and send direct mail. You should make sure that all the people on the mailing list are internet users.

-Buy commercial time on T.V. They can be during shows that are targeted toward internet users.

-Pass out your CD-ROM or diskette business cards at special events. It could be at trade shows, seminars, fairs, etc.

-Set up a deal with another business that targets internet users. Pay the business to insert your business ads in their product packages.

-Hold a free offline class and teach people how to use their computer or how to use the internet. You could have your web site on display as an example.

-Do co-op mailings with other businesses. They should also be targeting people with internet access.

-Give away free mouse pads. Put your advertising on the mouse pads and give them away at computer or internet events.

-Advertise in card decks. The card deck you advertise in should be targeted toward internet users.

You would also want to target your offline advertising to groups of people that will actually be interested in your product or service. If you're selling business books, you will want to market to business owners. In conclusion, if you have a business that's only based online, you don't want to market to people that don't have access to the internet.

Advertising Your Work From Home Internet Business With PPC Search Engines.

If you want to make money online with a work from home business then you are going to need lots of good targeted traffic to your web site and or affiliate links. One way to get good targeted traffic is to pay for it. I know you were hoping to do this business of yours without spending a dime right? Well if that’s what you are thinking you better keep working for someone else and forget about working from home with your own internet business.

I have been paying for traffic ever since I started my online business over 4 years ago and one of the best sources of targeted traffic is through pay per click search engines (PPC) or pay for placement search alternatives like Google adwords or Yahoo Sponsor Listings, formerly Overture.com .

Google adwords and Yahoo Sponsor Listings are the kings of pay per placement search engines. They are also the most expensive but you will get the most targeted traffic from them. If you cannot get a free listing in the top 10 on their main search results under the sponsored listings then you may want to consider pay per placement. Sponsored listings usually appear at the top above regular listings on Yahoo, and down the right side of the page at Google.

If Google and Yahoo are too rich for your liking then try some of the smaller PPC search engines like 7Search, Findwhat and or Kanoodle. I have put together a web page with links to these PPC search engines at the following web page.

CLICK HERE-----> http://7sformula

The key to good PPC advertising is to find cheap key words under .50 cents per click that will land you in the top 5 positions. There is no need to be number 1. A number 5 placement may cost you a few cents per click less and you will likely get the same traffic or in some cases even more than a number 1 spot. Try to pick as many key words as you can that are directly related to your product or service.

If you are advertising a work from home internet business try breaking down what I just typed. Work from home, home internet business, internet business, work from home business, home business. YOU GET THE PICTURE.

If you want to advertise a product like multivitamins try keywords like vitamins, supplements, vitamin supplements, health supplements, diet supplements, multivitamins. YOU GET THE PICTURE.

If you don’t have your own web site and only an affiliate link you may have to get a redirect URL from someone like http://tinyurl.com . Most of the PPC engines will not allow you to use an affiliate link. But you can get a tinyurl for free and have it re-direct to your affiliate link. If your affiliate program allows you to key code for testing purposes like SFI does then you can get several tinyurls and direct them to a different key code. That way you can actually test your PPC ad campaign to see which key words are working the best for you. This is important if you want to reduce your advertising dollars without sacrificing traffic to your web site. (We all want to do this right?)

PPC is only one advertising method that you should be taking advantage of, but it’s an important one so give it a try if you have not already. It may just change the way you do business and effect how much money you make with your work from home internet business.

Adwords, Affiliate Marketing And Cashing In On The Xmas Spend

The biggest Xmas spend online ever.

It stands to reason that each year more and more people get online. More of the people online begin using their credit cards to shop online and more of these shoppers realise the great convenience that shopping online offers. So they start to spend more on a wider variety of products and / or services.

So when Xmas comes around it makes more sense than ever to do the shopping online from the comfort of their home. They avoid the crowds, the traffic, stay in the warm, comparison shop, read online reviews and then get exactly what they want and get it cheaper too.

You can tap into this huge spending surge right now by utilizing Google Adwords and Affiliate schemes.

Things have changed at Google HQ when it comes to Adwords you can no longer link directly to an affiliate site.

You may now wonder how you can make any money with Adwords and affiliate schemes.

As it goes the change in policy at Adwords had zero effect on the most profitable affiliate promoters. In fact for the smart ones and even the not so smart ones it actually increased their profits!

How? well it's simple.

The smart affiliates didn't send their prospects directly to an affiliate site anyway. Instead they constructed their own site on which they presold the product or service they were promoting. By presell I mean they softly emphasised the benefits of the product, showed mouth-watering pictures, made comparisons to other similar products to emphasise the benefits of the product they were promoting. In essence they wrote a favourable, and what appeared to be an unbiased review.

You can do exactly the same. You don't need a full site just a single landing page will do. You could even have a page for each affiliate product you're promoting on the back of one of your existing sites.

The single biggest thing to keep in mind when you do this is that you must not go for the hard sell. Try to be unbiased and if there are bad points to the product you're promoting via Adwords be sure to mention them.

In fact I'd go so far as to say, make sure you list something you're not happy with.

I know that sounds nuts but it will give your review much more credibility than if you gushed overly enthusiastically about how great this product is.

Mention a bad point or a minor irritation but then be sure to follow with a major good point or qualify why exactly you didn't like this one feature.

What should you promote?

You need something either with a good conversion or a high commission. Preferably both. You also need to find low cost keywords and lots of them if possible. That goes for anything you promote really.

Consider what people will be buying this Xmas. What has the largest price tag but is still in high demand?

Ideally stay away from the obvious e.g. ipods, Xbox's etc there will be too much competition and so to high a click cost.

In conclusion the method of promotion mentioned above has served many people well and in fact resulted in, believe it or not, an annual six figure income for more than one lucky affiliate marketer.

Get your Adwords Xmas campaigns running now. Each day you hold of on starting your Xmas Adwords campaigns you loose money.

23 Ways To Use An Ad Tracker

The ad tracker was originally developed to provide a record
of all hits to a site resulting from ad placements. This
article shows a host of different ways to utilise an ad
tracker.

FOR AFFILIATES

#1. The Long Url Problem

Have you ever seen an ad where you are asked to click on an affiliate URL so long that it stretches over 2 lines, like this

http://www/anysite.com/cgi-bin/dir1/dir2/.cgi?code=123RT&type=102
35&subid=89715

Do you think your reader will bother to do the necessary cut and paste to put it in a browser?

Probably not.

And that's probably one lost sale.

And even a one line affiliate link may exceed the permissible length for some ad posting requirements.

The solution: use a short tracking URL.

#2. Losing Your Affiliate Code

As an affiliate you may have your affiliate code embedded in a link something like this:

http://www.abc.com/123

Some customers will bypass the affiliate code and just type in the home URL http://www.abc.com (possibly because they think that they will be paying extra for an agent's commission)

The solution: use a tracking URL - so that your affiliate code number is never seen.

#3. Make Your Ad Stand Out

You may have seen search engine results showing near identical listings for the same product, differing only in an affiliate code appended to the URL.

Your listing here will be just one of many unless you make it stand out. So bypass the standard affiliate URL and use a tracking URL.

#4. How Effective Are The Links

You can measure and compare the effectiveness of the different banners or text links the affiliate programs provide you by using a tracking URL.

#5. Changing Links

If an affiliate company change their links then your existing ads, wherever they are posted, become worthless. But if you use a tracking URL you simply revise the affiliate URL at the tracking control centre.

#6. Affiliate Program Discontinued

Similarly if an affiliate program is discontinued you just change your tracking URL to a new page where you explain the circumstances and point your visitor to your other promotions.

#7. Better Affiliate Stats

Not all affiliate programs provide you with stats about visitors. And if they do are they adequate ?

Compare a basic monthly figure say
- Jan: 39 hits

with a detailed analysis such as

- Jan 12: 10 hits
- Jan 13: 2 hits
- Jan 20: 21 hits
- Jan 21: 6 hits

where you can relate those dates to particular ad campaigns.

Tracking URLs will give you these improved figures.

#8. Checking Affiliate Stats

Even if you do receive good stats from your affiliate program it still makes sense to use tracking URLs so that you can compare your figures with theirs.

A large discrepancy could mean errors in their software or (hopefully not) fraudulent activity on their part.

An alternative reason is that their measurement takes place when their page is fully loaded rather than at the start, indicating that visitors are clicking away because it is taking too long to load.

FOR EZINE PUBLISHERS

#9. Win Advertisers With Tracking Reports

If you sell advertising space in your ezine you can offer to your advertisers to replace their URLs with your tracking URLs and Email them the results.

Tell your advertisers about these benefits in your advertising guidelines

- They will know the number of clickthroughs their ad has generated. They can then decide how to improve the ads for better performance

- If they use a tracker program with your own domain name in the tracking URL your ezine subscribers will be more inclined to click

- They can use your ezine as a test centre, modifying their ads until they are happy, before launching with other publishers

#10. Use Tracking Report Results

The tracking reports above will provide you with information on your subscribers' interests, influencing your editorial content and helping you select which potential advertisers to approach.

Also, once your advertisers have seen for themselves the benefits of an ad tracking program they will be inclined to purchase one. So set yourself up as an affiliate for a program and promote it to them.

#11. Measure Your Readership

You may know how many subscribers you have but how many actually open and read your ezine and which parts of it attract most attention ?

Here's how to find out if you distribute your ezine in HTML Format: include an image on your page, e.g a banner or logo or a single pixel GIF. Then reference this image with a tracking URL.

For an ezine distributed as plain text it is not possible to see if it is actually opened or read. But what you can do is insert tracking URLs at the appropriate points, such as product offers or special articles, and get comparative figures for which items are being read.

AT YOUR WEB SITE

#12. The Problem Of Permanent URLs

Web sites are continually evolving and changing.

You may want to rename a page to make it more consistent and logical but there's a huge problem. You have given out the URL in an ebook, or a directory submission, or an article or wherever. There's no way you can undo this.

The solution ?

Never provide the actual URL, just a tracking URL. You can then just edit the link at the tracking centre whenever a page is moved or renamed.

The external links, in your ebook for example, stay the same but they will redirect to your new page.

#13. What Are Your Visitors Doing ?

You have text links all over your site, links to your other pages and links to recommended sites.

Where are your visitors clicking ?

Where are they leaving your site, why, how can you stop them ?

Which graphic do they click on the most ?

Do they click on the text link more than the graphic link?

Your log files may tell you at best which are the most popular pages at your site but it is vital to know how your visitors move through your site and what is tempting them.

Use tracking URLs to replace actual links wherever you need to monitor click activity.

#14. Sell Website Advertising Space

You can offer tracking reports to your advertisers in the same way as for ezine publishers (above).

#15. Stop Piracy

If you have invested man-months of time setting up a vital resource site involving a directory of links it's very easy for a pirate to simply copy your page and provide useful content for his own site.

If you use tracking URLs for those directory links you can detect this copy - because the ad tracking program will record the referring URL.

At the same time of course you can measure the popularity of the directory links.

USING PAY PER CLICK SEARCH ENGINES

#16. Better Click Activity Reporting

Pay per click search engines will report to you click activity on your URL. Engines vary in the frequency and format of the reporting so you can use tracking URLs instead to obtain better information.

#17. Prevent Fraudulent Activity

You can compare your figures with the engine's and should query any large discrepancy.

If click activity is unusually high you may have a competitor clicking on just to incur costs against you. You may be able to detect this by comparing the figures for unique hits and actual hits (several hits per visitor).

OFFLINE MARKETING

#18. Check How Successful

If you have ever wondered whether it was worth advertising off line because of the supposed impossibility of measuring the response then ad tracking URLs will answer that problem. Just include them in your ads in

- newspapers
- magazines
- flyers
- billboards
- press releases
- shop notice boards
- and so on

#19. Use The Time Reports

The date and time when clicks are made will allow you to check the progress of your ads, for example

- has your newspaper ad been submitted yet ?
- has your billboard notice been removed ?
- how long does a magazine ad stay around ?

For a long running ad you can study the response and switch the link midstream if necessary to an improved web page.

EBOOKS

#20. Do Free Books Work ?

The main purpose of a free ebook is to get the reader back to your site. But how successful is it proving ?

Put tracking URLs in the book and you will find out.

#21. Maintain Control After Download

Once your ebook is downloaded it would appear that you no longer have any control over it. Not so. You can redirect the reader to other pages of your site by changing the tracking Url links.

OTHER WAYS

#22. Become An Ad Tracking Affiliate

Since ad tracking programs are high demand marketing tools you can profit by joining their affiliate program (if they have one).

Owning the product that you promote always gives that extra advantage e.g you can give an example of how you use it or a personal testimonial as to how it has benefited you.

#23. Privacy

You may want to post an URL somewhere and - for reasons of your own - not let it reveal your website. You can do this with an ad tracking program where the supplier domain name is used in the tracking URL.

10 Adsense Tips for Maximum Click Through Rates.

1) You should make your Adsense ads look as a part of your web page. They shouldn't look like an Ad. People are negative to advertising. They search the internet for content not ads. Especially Banners have a less of 0,5% response. Their days are over. Imagine if you have an Adsense ad looking like the typical Banner with different colors. It will not be profitable.

2) Text ads are better than image ads. Like before, people are more responsive to text than images. In a way it is considered as a part of the online document and is more clickable.

3) No Border ads. One of the best tricks is to erase the borders of Adsense ads and make them again having the same color with your website's background.

4) No other advertisements. The first reason is to be legitimate according to Google's Rules and the second more practical reason is that you do not want to distract your visitor's attention and go somewhere else without clicking your Adsense ads.

5) Placement. Even if you have the best Ad, people will not respond if they don't see it instantly. The best place to see the ad is the top of your web page and the next is aside
your document's text. Visitors will click it more frequently since it will look like your text.

6) Traffic. Try to use legitimate ways of traffic. Some people use Google Adwords and other Pay per Click search engines. The problem here is to search very carefully for the right niche and keywords in order to make your campaigns profitable. Other ways is link popularity techniques like link exchange directories, software or even mass blog submission techniques. Don't use link farms and classifieds for that, because search engine's algorithms are extremely clever and they will ban your listings.

7) Do not rely on one website. Yes you can make money with one website but try to make as more as possible.

8) Relevant content is King. Articles are one of the best tactics to create huge websites that will be crawled by search engine's robots. Don't forget search engines exist to provide relevant content at first. One excellent resource to automate your article directory procedure is http://www.articleequalizer.com .You can create an article database in minutes which otherwise is time consuming and it would take you a week!

9) Use site maps. Google's site maps visit your site and crawl it much sooner that any other submission process. More information is here: http://www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps

10) Relevant ads. It's one of the most important factors for Adsense success. If the internet user can't find relevant ad in your page he or she won't click the ad. Would you act differently? So it's critical to create relevant resource for your web page. In order to do that, you must do the following steps.

First the file must be saved with the appropriate name for example: Golf-Secrets.html if your article is about golf. So the webpage will be:
www.yoursitesname.com/Golf-Secrets.html

Second thing you must change is your title tag. For example:
Title Golf-Secrets article title

Third is the heading. The first sentence must have this heading:
12 Golf secrets

5 Secret Tips to Effective Pay Per Click Advertising

Yes, pay per click advertising will cost you but if you do it right, it should make you money. If you are running pay per click advertising campaign and more money is going out than coming in, something is not right. Here are 5 steps to targeting the right keywords and minimizing costs.

Are your keywords too broad?

Let's just say you have developed an amazing diet drink that is safe, effective, tasty and will guarantee that people will lose 15 lbs in 30 days. You know you have a product that is a winner and are excited about marketing it on the World Wide Web. However, you are relatively new to the Web and pick keywords that are too general and expensive like 'dieting' or 'weight loss'. Not only are you perhaps disappointed by your PPC advertising results but it will likely be draining your bank account. This is why niche keywords are so important. Look at bidding on keywords such as 'weight loss supplement' or 'weight loss drink'. Go to Overture or Word Tracker and find keywords that are more niche oriented and not so competitive.

Is your ad dull or attention getting?

It is worthwhile to spend some time learning about effective copy writing. It could be the difference between mediocrity and success. You want to know how to get someone's attention. Unfortunately saying "I have the best diet drink on the planet" doesn't work. You have to motivate and inspire people to take their time to look at what you have to offer. And, in pay per click advertising you have to do it in very few words. This can be a challenge. Learn the words that sell or attract or grab someone's attention like "Must see", "Quick results", "New…", "The truth…", "Groundbreaking…", "Instant…"

Double Check your URL!

Sounds like a no-brainer but many times people either misspell their URL or send someone to their home page instead of the page that directly relates to their question. In other words, you may have a website that is dedicated to weight loss but in your pay per click advertising, you want to direct them specifically to your diet drink. So, you would want your URL to read http://www.myweightlosssite.com/dietdrink.html. There is nothing more frustrating to the website visitor than having to go hunting for the information. Your job is to make it easy to find and informative. If they have to look long, they will leave. These are dollars lost to you.

What is your competition doing?

It is likely that your competitors who have a high PR (page rank) and continue to advertise, are doing something right. Learn from those who are successful. While the differences may seem subtle to you, in the World of PPC advertising a word or sentence can discourage or invite a potential website visitor.

What should my title be for my PPC ad ?

Plain and simple use the keyword that is being searched on. Don't get fancy or creative here. If someone is looking for diet drink then your ad title is 'diet drink'.
Give the website visitor what they want.

The bidding war is on

Try your best not to get caught in the bidding war game. There are plenty of ways to drive traffic to your site without spending a fortune. General keywords will always have high prices like 'dieting.' Don't fall for the trap. Most refined keywords will have lower priced bids but are excellent because they will target your traffic. A Website visitor may only be looking for diet recipes and dislike diet drinks. They are not your customer. Same for the website visitor who may want to tone-up while they are dieting. The more specific you can target your market, the better you will do.

Two other tips: If all the bids are around 25 cents and the lead bid is at $5.00, you know someone is trying to own the number 1 position. If you want to have fun bid $4.99 and they will get nailed $5.00 for every click and you will only pay 26 cents if they click on your ad. Warning though: if you want to play this game, keep an eye out so they don't drop their bid. I sometimes do this as a temporary measure to bring someone back to fair playing grounds.

Secondly, keep any eye on all of your bids. People do change what they are willing to bid on any given keyword or search term. I do an overview every few days.

The test results are back

One last key to good pay per click advertising is testing your ads. You can set up two different campaigns and rotate them for the same period of time. What you might learn could surprise you and benefit your bank account!

10 Steps to Successful Selling on eBay

So you want to be a successful seller with your own eBay business, do you? Here's a simple, ten-step path to eBay enlightenment.
Step 1: Identify your market. Take a while to sit and watch for what sells and what doesn't out of the items you're interested in. Any market research data you can collect will be very useful to you later on. You'll probably see the 'sweet spots' quite quickly - those one or two items that always seem to sell for a good price.

Step 2: Watch the competition. Before you invest any money, see what the other sellers in your category are up to, and what their strategies are. Pay special attention to any flaws their auctions might have, because this is where you can move in and beat them at their own game.

Step 3: Find a product: Get hold of a supplier for whatever it is you want to sell, and see what the best rates you can get are - don't be afraid to ring round quite a few to get the best deal. If the eBay prices you've seen are higher than the supplier's, then you're set.

Step 4: Start small: Don't throw thousands at your idea straight away - get started slowly, see what works and what doesn't, and learn as you go. Remember that it's very cheap to try out even the craziest ideas on eBay, and who knows, they might just work!

Step 5: Test and repeat. Keep trying different strategies until you find something that works, and then don't be ashamed to keep doing it, again and again. The chances are that you've just found a good niche.

Step 6: Work out a business plan: A business plan doesn't need to be anything formal, just a few pages that outline the market opportunity you've spotted, your strategy, strengths and weaknesses of the plan and a brief budget. This is more for you than it is for anyone else.

Step 7: Invest and expand: This is the time to throw money at the problem. Buy inventory, and start spending more time on your business. Set a goal number of sales each week, increasing it each time.

Step 8: Make it official: Once you've made a few thousand dollars worth of sales, you should really register yourself as a business. Don't worry, it's not expensive or hard to do - a lawyer is the best person to help you through the process.

Step 9: Automate: You'll probably find that you're writing the same things again and again in emails or item descriptions. This is the time to give up on the manual method and turn to automated software that can create listings for you, and respond to completed auctions and payments with whatever message you provide.

Step 10: Never give up: Even when it looks like it's all going wrong, don't stop trying until you succeed. If you keep working at it then you'll almost always find that you make a real breakthrough just when things are starting to look desperate.

5 Secrets To Make A Killing on eBay

Secret #1: Find a ‘real’ wholesale and drop ship company

Do you know what one of the biggest problem is to be successful on eBay? ‘What should I sell”? I can tell you, I get many emails per day from eBay sellers, asking me what they can sell. Let me explain this more in detail.

Let’s take John and David for example. Both are sellers and try to make money on eBay. Let’s start with John. He mainly gets his items from garage sales. So, every Saturday morning he gets up very early, hops into his car and drives around the neighbourhood to check out the garage sales. So he went last Saturday. John did not buy anything on the first two garage sales, but on his third garage sale, he found a little treasure. An old book from 1897 - for a bargain price of $10. Bingo! John was proud! ‘I can sell this for huge profit’, he thought and he went home. He took his digital camera and he made a high quality digital photo. It took quite some time but finally he was happy with the result. Then he had to upload this picture to his computer and he spent some time writing the sales copy. Late Saturday afternoon finally he was finished and launched this book onto eBay. 7-10 days later his item got sold for $75!! John is excited. He packs the item, labels it with the buyers address and then he drives to the nearest post office. Oh no, what a long line. After 15 min of waiting he could finally post this item to his customer! Wow, a lot of work for $65 profit? Don’t you think?

Let’s look at David. He usually gets up very late – usually at Saturday around lunchtime. He is still in his pyjamas and he makes himself a nice cup of coffee and gets onto the Internet. He logs into his drop ship account and browses through some hot selling product. ‘Yes, I can sell that” - A nice laptop for a bargain price of $550 (wholesale price). But David does not have to pay upfront for this item, so he just downloads the professional digital photos offered by his drop ship company to his computer. ”Oh wait”; David has just discovered that this drop ship company has also a ‘ready-to-use’ auction sales letter available. That’s really cool …and David copies and pastes the source code of this letter into his eBay listing and he launches his auction. A Dutch auction, since the drop ship company announced that they have more than one of this laptop currently available. Great, David could sell 6 laptops. He hits the submit button for this Dutch auction of 6 laptops and enjoys his coffee (which is still hot by the way). After 7-10 days David has sold all 6 laptops for $830 each. All what David does is the following: He waits until he gets the payment from his 6 customers in his paypal account, sends the address of the customers together with 6 x $550 (wholesale price) to his drop sip company via paypal. He has made pure profit of 6 x $280 = $1,680 in about 25 min of work – total. That’s why David is a smarter eBay seller than John. I think the idea is clear …drop shipping can be the answer to your problem what to sell on eBay and it can saves you a lot of time too. No packing, posting etc.

Secret #2: Have a professional auction listing

A professional eBay auction site is like your business card. If you are serious selling on eBay you should show your potential customers that you are a professional seller and that you are selling high quality products. Please, don’t just upload a photo and type the text in the description box. Do your homework and learn some HTML. Look around there are many professional tutorials and ebooks around helping you in that matter. It’s definitely worth it. And you’ll be surprised, because if your auction listing looks nice and professional potential buyers stay longer on your site and usually it’s more likely that they place a bid.

Secret #3: The money is in the follow up

“Yes, I’ve heard this before”, you may say. But, this is a very important aspect of your successful eBay career: Follow up with your customers. Send them an email ~10 days after they have purchased the product and ask them how they are going with the product and if everything is all right. Invite them to have a look at your other auctions. (You have to be careful though not offending anyone, but if the products are related and you ask how they went with the product, that’s fine). I never got complaints by doing that and your customers are happy to get some “insider tips”. You’ll be amazed how many customers will buy from you again, since they value you as a seller. Keep in mind that it is easier to keep an existing customer, instead of getting a new customer. You could also send them a thank you gift in form of a downloadable digital information product. That’s easy for you and they get some valuable information. You’ll see that your existing customers will be very thankful and they feel good that they have bought from you and will do again in the future.

Secret #4: Sell internationally

This aspect is often neglected by many eBay sellers: Sell internationally! First, check with your drop ship company in which countries they are shipping and how much postage they charge to send the item overseas. If you have sort out these details, you can go ahead and list your item internationally. You’ll be surprised how many more items you are selling when the potential buyers see: Ship worldwide. Don’t miss this opportunity or you are leaving big bucks on the table.

How do you think your listing will be stand out from the crowd? Good question isn’t it. In my 4 years of being an active Power Seller, I have tried and tested a lot. First have the photo in the gallery; it just costs a bit more to list but these additional cents are well spend. A recent study has shown that people almost ignore listing without a picture in the gallery. So that’s mandatory! The next step is your title. Do you know that only the title is spidered by eBay when potential customers are searching for specific products? So, you have to make sure that your title includes as much keywords as possible. But be careful here, eBay does not like “keyword stuffing”. So, be creative and come up with 2-3 different titles for the same item. Try them all and you’ll see what works best

4 Steps To Unleashing Profits In Your Online Business

Ever wonder how the thousands of "under the radar" web
businesses that earn well over $100,000/year (many with
much higher sales) out of their own home do it?

Over the last year I've had the great fortune to speak
with many of these true, hidden entrepreneurs at
conferences, seminars, e.t.c.

What I'm about to share with you also came true for me,
and is outlined in more detail in my Ultimate Information
Entrepreneur's Success Package

Here's an example of their business model:

1. Information Products. Without a doubt, each one of
the successes I know market their own infoproducts.
For some, it's an ebook. Others have special reports.
Still others run online coaching programs, membership
sites, paid newsletters, teleseminars, or produce
digital audio or video products.
It's not their only source of income, but is a MAJOR
source of income, and more important, brands them an
expert in their field leading to success with 2 and
3 below.

2. Market related Affiliate Products. Again, in almost
every case, these online success stories become experts
at finding and creating joint venture deals with partners.

But, they work differently than most affiliates.

They start by ALWAYS reviewing the product they will market.
Second, they look for a different way to present the
product or service - a more beneficial way to show users the
real benefit in the affiliate product. Third, they use
the branding from 1 to negotiate higher commissions and
focus on high commission programs only.

3. They monetize their traffic using Adsense or selling
advertising on their sites. For high traffic pages
where adding paid ads or Google's Adsense will not impact
their own sales, they will run ads to further monetize
their sites.

4. Sell their time. You will find that truly successful
people online LOVE to help people succeed. But...for
every person who is really dedicated to succeeding there
are 10 "tire kickers" who want someone to hand them
success on a silver platter. It doesn't work that way,
nothing works that way. So, in order to leave time to
help those who really want it, coaching programs are
formed. Yes - you have to pay big money, but you should
easily be able to get 10X the value for money spent.

So as you can see, there is no ONE single way to build
your wealth online.

Instead, you build a diversified, rich and healthy
business by focusing on these 4 pillars. Not only will
you earn more money, but your business will be stronger
and build momentum faster when you do.

3 Unusual Formats For Auctions on eBay

But there are three other formats that are less well known.

1. Live Auctions

Before eBay, the traditional auction included live bodies in
chairs and an auctioneer up front (talking so fast he was
frequently unintelligible). Any buyer can still participate
in these live auctions via eBay. Live auctions are a hybrid
- a buyer is 'sort of' present in a live setting yet is at
home using an Internet connection.

The products for sale are usually expensive and unusual.
There are such items as expensive and unique coins, Asian
art, native American artifacts, incredible jewelry, costly
furniture, memorabilia from major sports stars and even
history. Today, for instance, there are documents signed by
John Quincy Adams, Andrew Jackson, James Madison and Ulysses
Grant (he confides that he was strenuously opposed to the
"wicked" war with Mexico).

If you choose to participate in a live auction, be certain
that you register first because you can't just drop in on a
whim.

You can find all the details here:
http://salehoo.com

2. Private Auctions

Private auctions are similar to the typical auction that
we're all familiar with except for one detail - the
identities of the bidders are kept secret. Only the seller
has access to the names.

Why would anyone create a private auction? It's usually for
one of three reasons:

* The item is quite expensive and buyers might be
uncomfortable having others know they can afford such
merchandise. Their concern about their financial status is
most likely misplaced because it is quite possible to
distance yourself from eBay contact information, but much of
selling is about perception.

* The buyers might be embarrassed by the nature of the
merchandise.

* Some sellers habitually use private auctions to make it
harder for their competition to snoop on them.

3. Restricted Access Auctions

This is usually for sales of "adult" items. The main purpose
is to prevent children from seeing this kind of merchandise,
and is similar to having covers on racy magazines at store
checkouts.

To bid on these items, the buyer must:

* Be 18 years old

* Must have supplied credit card information to eBay.The
theory is that no one under 18 can get a credit card and
therefore cannot get into these sections.

* Agree that he is voluntarily accessing restricted access
auctions

In addition, restricted auctions are excluded from the
Featured pages. So if you are a seller using this format,
your listing will be harder to find.

Even though they are less well known, these three formats
for auctions on eBay still account for tens of millions of
dollars in sales each year. If they suit your business
model, you might consider them.

3 Internet Home Based Businesses Anyone Can Do

If you’re serious about having a home based business, then you need to prepare. The leading reason for a failing home based business is the lack of preparation people commit after they’ve made a decision to start a home based business.

So what kind of home based business opportunity should you take on? Do you want to have an internet-based home business? Millions have done it, are doing it and are earning good livings doing so.

Here are three different kinds of Internet based business models you can try:

1) Be an online retailer for reputable companies. Your home based internet business can give reviews about all the products and services of these companies. Your customers will browse around your website, and then click on to the link. The link will send the customer to the company’s customer service website, which takes care of processing and shipping their order.

Your home based online business website does the marketing, promoting and advertising aspects for these companies. Your commission comes from the proceeds of the sale. You don’t even have to spend money for expensive e-commerce software.

2) You may not be able to bear the pain of separating from your oldest possessions, but how about auctioning these things off? For a minimal entry fee and closing fee, you can put your prized possessions on auction at Ebay or other spin-offs found on the net. This is a virtually free home based business since you don’t pay for web presence. You’ll get traffic since Ebay receives as many as 4 million visitors a day, and you won’t need to worry about your e-commerce software. Plus your small home based internet business stays open even when you go fishing!

3) Sell information. You can start your home based internet business by writing on a subject that you enjoy or are knowledgeable about. If you can do this, then this small home based internet business is for you. Write your e-book and sell it on sites like Ebay.com, ebookAd.com, or Clickbank.com.

These home based internet business are all simple and easy enough to do. You can earn a living on these ideas if you view this small home based business with passion and commitment.

Just remember these home based internet tip:
Constantly fine-tune your marketing strategy and always test new ad copies to see what brings you the most sales!

10 Secrets for exploding your adwords profits

While Google AdWords is a revenue generating machine for the savvy advertiser, 9 out of 10 people often FAIL in their first few attempts to create an effective campaign. That is why I have created this report – to help these new or not-as-experienced advertisers battle through the initial learning curve, and to implement a few very simple but effective strategies that will help you achieve your advertising goals and improve the overall performance of your advertising campaign.

1. Expand Relevant Keyword Terms

Keyword relevancy is the KEY to success with Google AdWords. While it may be tempting to include all sorts of keywords you can get your hands on, be aware that this is often the #1 mistake advertisers make when creating their first campaign.

The keyword term qualifies the user as someone who is interested in the your products/services. For this reason, we need to make them as relevant as possible. Do not go out on a whim and start adding terms that are somewhat related, because, chances are, even if users do find interest in clicking on your ad, they will end up leaving your website without making a purchase because your product/service was not exactly what they were looking for.

2. Be Familiar with the Various Matching Options

While broad match is the default match type and should be used more than 90% of the time, you should also be familiar with the other matching options that are available to you. Selecting the right match type will increase your performance potential and for driving clicks/sales.
If you are unfamiliar with the different matching options, here is an example:

When tennis shoes is broad matched, your ad will show when users search on the keywords tennis and shoes, in any order, and even if the query includes other terms, such as tennis rackets and shoes. With broad matching, the keyword is also automatically enrolled in expanded matching. This means that Google will show the ads for other relevant terms and variations (such as tennis sneakers) even if these terms are not included in the keyword list.

When tennis shoes is phrase matched, your ad will only show when users search on the keywords tennis shoes in that order. For example, queries red tennis shoes and tennis shoes sale will generate your ad, but not shoes for tennis.

When tennis shoes is exact matched, your ad will only show when users search on the keyword tennis shoes. This must be typed in exactly in this format. No other variations of this term will trigger your ad.

3. Use Negative Keywords

Negative keywords are specific terms you can select to prevent your ad from displaying. For example, if -red is entered as a negative keyword, the ad will not show if a user searches for red tennis shoes.
To maximize the relevancy of your keywords, negative keywords should always be used. If you can stop irrelevant results, you should! Always double check your negative keyword list to make sure that you really do not want to run on them.

A few universal negative keywords to use may be –free, if you do not offer a free product, or –uk, -canada and –australia if you are offering a product that only ships within the United States.

4. Create Relevant Ad Text

You can spend hours compiling an amazing list of relevant keywords, but your campaign can only be successful if the terms are used with appropriate ad text. The keyword does its job by triggering your ad, but clicks are generated by the relevancy and quality of the ad text. The ad text is arguably the most important part of your campaign because it is the ONLY aspect of your account that is visible to the user
.
If the keywords do not relate to the same products/services, you may want to separate the keywords into different Ad Groups. In different Ad Groups, targeted ad text can be created to specifically relate to the keyword terms and will, as a result, be more relevant and better targeted.

5. Multiple Creatives

When multiple creatives are created within an Ad Group, the ads will rotate evenly when the keywords are searched. Reporting statistics for each creative are listed in the account, so you can test several different creatives for CTR and ROI. Based on these statistics, you can then delete any creatives that are not performing well for you. This feature also allows you to test different landing pages. By using tracking URLs, you can measure conversions, which allows you to optimize the account so that you are using the most effective ad text and landing page combination possible.

6. Unique Special Offers/Promotional Language

Because you would want to distinguish your own product/service from your competition, keep in mind that a generic ad typically does not perform as well as a creative that contains specific information. To make an ad stand out, consider including factors such as special offers, unique qualities and promotions to differentiate this ad from competitors. (Ex. “discounts,” “free shipping,” “low price guarantee,” “price matching,” “award-winning.”)

7. Call-to-Action Phrases

Specific call-to-action phrases that reflect the your goals, such as “sign up for free newsletter,” “try a free sample,” “order make-up online” and “buy CDs at 15% off,” are strongly encouraged because they clearly spell out what the user should do on the website in order to achieve a successful conversion on your end. Such phrases give the user a clear idea of what to expect before visiting the website and can increase your overall CTR and ROI.

8. Destination URLs

The destination URL of the ad should be accurate and working. For best results, make sure that it takes the user directly to the product/service advertised. This will ensure relevancy and increase the chances of a successful conversion.

9. Individual Ad Groups for Each Product Line

Another effective method of using the keywords is by plugging them into the ad text. It is especially effective when inserting the keywords in the ad’s first line (ad title) because it increases the relevancy of the ad. The ad title should be an “eye-catcher.” It should ask a question, make a statement, or sum up the specific product or service being advertised.

When a user searches on a particular term and sees an ad with the same term in the ad title, the relevance is right on the money. In addition, the keywords will appear in bold within the creative. This draws attention to the ad and increases the probability that the user will click on it. If inserting the keyword in the ad title is not possible, at least try to incorporate it into the ad text itself.

10. Use the Available Tools and Features!

That’s what they’re there for! Learn about all the great things you can do with these tools that were specifically designed to help you achieve success with Google AdWords.

When you have a moment, definitely take a closer look at the various features you can add to your campaign, such as the Keyword Suggestion Tool, Budget Optimizer, Conversion Tracking and Reporting Generator. These features can help you discover what is performing well in your campaign and what is not, and you can then make the appropriate changes to ensure that your campaign is performing at its peak.

10 powerful secrets adsense ( Part II )

Tip #6: Use Fewer Links

This secret revolves around mathematical probability and common sense. If you have 25 links to other webpages on your page, and only 5 of those links are AdSense ads that pay you, chances are pretty good that you visitors will click on the links that do not pay you.

Having too many links that do not pay is even more damaging to your CTR than having too much content on the page.

Placing your AdSense ads at the top will help some, but you are still going to lose a lot of traffic by giving your visitors the option to click away via a link that doesn't pay.

So how can you deal with this challenge?
1) You can put the non profitable links at the bottom of the page
2) Each link should open in a new browser using the html target="_blank" tag

Tip #7: The Fewer Ads the Better

When Google raised the ad block limit from one per page, to two, and then later to three, many marketers decided it would be a good idea to go ahead and max out the number of ad blocks on their pages.

That was not a good idea and many of these marketers have suffered from it.

It is important for you to remember that when you publish Google AdSense ads on your pages, Google is effectively syndicating their Adwords ads, which is a pay-per-click advertising network.

What that means is the ads at the top of the page are there because the advertisers for those ads are paying more (for the better placement) than the advertisers with ads at the bottom of the page.

What this means to you is if you max out the number of ad blocks on your page, you will go from having 4 ads to having 12 ads. This is assuming that you are using the large rectangle ad block. The math: 4 ads per ad block and 3 blocks equals 12 total ads.

At first glance you might consider this to be a good change, one that should be more profitable for you, right? After all, the more ads you have available the more chances you have of getting a click. Seems to make sense, doesn’t it?

Actually, it is not a good thing for you because it can very easily and very quickly cut into your profits.

Why?

My tests in this matter have shown us that not only do we get fewer clicks the more ads we have on a page, but we also earn much less for every click that we do get.

we decided that this only makes sense.

If the top ad on your page pays you $0.50 per click, there is a very good chance that the bottom 4 all pay less than $0.15. In essence, by increasing the number of ads, you are trading higher-priced (higher paying) clicks for lower-priced (lower paying) clicks.

We tested several pages of my own and decided that 4 ads is usually the golden goose. However, this is not a hard and fast rule that must be observed at all times. Occasionally, a 2 ad block pulls the best combination of earning-per-click (EPC) and click-through-rate (CPC) which is exactly what you want.

My advice is if you're using more than one ad block on your page, test that same page with just a single block and careful keep track of the results. Odds are you will make more money by decreasing the ads.

Tip #8: Sell the Click…Carefully and Creatively

Google policy strictly forbids you from writing out, “Click on the links below”. They do that to protect the advertisers, and to keep things fair for each advertiser. However, if you can “suggest” that your visitors click on the links (without actually saying it in print), your CTR will be greatly increased.

Many people have tried many methods of doing just this thing. Some have tried using arrows and other graphics that point to their ads, in the hopes of pulling visitors in, but, be warned, Google seriously frowns upon this type of behavior.

What they don't mind, however, is if an image appears next to your ad block, and if that image just so happens to catch the eye, well…

More subtle, but still highly effective, is to have an unrelated image sitting next to your ads. For example, if your page is about a particular magazine, you may want to include a photo of the editor of that magazine next to the ads. The photo of this editor will naturally draw the eye toward it. At the same time, Google wouldnot mind this photo being there because it directly relates to the content of the ad.

Another way to “sell” the ad is to place the article below the ads and below the fold so that the visitor does not see immediately see it. Now this is highly aggressive and may cause trouble for you with Google, so use at your own discretion.

If you want to be less aggressive, make sure you include plenty of resources in the article below the ads. Keep in mind what we discussed earlier that the more content and links the lower your CTR will be. In this case, it is very good advice to test, test, test.

The last tip for this section is so simple and easy to use it is nearly insane. When you write your paragraph or two of content, make sure you end the last sentence of the last paragraph with an ellipse.
Like this …

Generally speaking, when people begin reading something they want to finish it. By leaving them hanging with the ellipse, you are inviting them to click on the link to read the rest of the content. It makes it appear as if the article continues on one of the pages being linked to, and many times they will click on the link just to get to the rest of the content.

Tip #9: Avoid the "Advertise on this site" Program

Sometimes what is good for someone else is not good for you. This is one of those occasions.

Google's newest enhancement to their Adsense program is the “Advertise on this site” program. We hate it, and we suggest you not use it.

Here's how it works:

By allowing "OnSite Advertiser Signup" on your sites, Google automatically
posts a link at the top of all your ads. The premise is that a potential advertiser will visit your site, decide they want to advertise on your site, and click that Google link to signup.

On the surface it sounds like a good idea. But when we tested it, it cost us money to tune of a 9% drop across the board.

We're not sure what caused this but we do have my suspicions:

First, it was another link on my sites. As mentioned above, the more links you have, the less money you make. And in this case, the only way to be paid through this link is if someone actually fills out the form and signs up. That does not happen very often, if ever.

The second reason we feel this “enhancement” cost us money is that the ad itself makes my other ads look less like resources and more like ads. It's bad enough that Google still puts that unsightly and annoying "Ads by Gooooooogle" line across the top of your ad block, but adding another "Advertise on this site" link right next to it really pushes it over the edge. People hate advertising when it is in their face. What do they do? They leave. Fast.

Third, very few advertisers, at least those who are serious, are going to be willing to agree to advertise on your site and your site alone. It is simply not good business to be tied to one site (even if that site belongs to you) and most people will not agree to that. We know we would never agree to participate in something like that, something that restrictive. We can’t blame others for not wanting to do it either.

Most of the people we have talked to have also experienced a decline in earnings when the ad appeared on their sites. If you have it on your pages, you should consider dropping it.

"OnSite Advertiser Signup" is activated by default at Google. Unless you tell them you do NOT want to participate in the program, they will turn it on.

It is easy enough to check and to fix. Log in to your Adsense account and click on the "My Account" link. Scroll down to the bottom and look for the line that says: OnSite Advertiser Sign-Up. Make sure this says "You are not currently subscribed to Onsite Advertiser Sign-Up". If it doesn't say that, click the "Edit" button and unsubscribe.

Now, it may take a few days (perhaps longer) for the code to update across all of your pages, but eventually it will vanish, and hopefully your profits will increase.

Tip #10: Get Indexed in The Search Engines.

The best way to get indexed and crawled by search engine bots is by getting links from other websites that are already indexed in the search engines. Then when the search engine bots will crawl the site that is pointing to your site it will notice the link to your site and after a few days will start crawling your site and pages.

There are a lot of ways to get links from other sites and I will mention a few
1) Link exchange with other websites that are on the same theme as your site (link exchange done wrong can get your site ban by search engines)
2) You can submit your sites to search engine friendly directories.
3) You can write articles and submit them toy article directories
4) You can use companies that their expert is linking for example http://www.text-link-ads.com/

There are a lot of other ways to gain links to your sites, the above are very easy to use and implement. Of course you can outsource the link building tasks if you, as we do!
Links is one of the most important things to get to the top of the search engines, if done correctly.

Last Thoughts:

The key to dramatically increasing your profits through Adsense is in the numbers. The only thing separating you from a $20 a day profit and a $200 a day profit is the numbers. If you do more of what you are already doing, the numbers will take of the rest.

But be intelligent about it, too. Be smarter than the next person. Set up and then use your Procedures. Make that Goal List that we explored earlier and then achieve those goals, one at a time. Outsource when it is the smart thing to do. Never be afraid to ask for help.

This business is about volume. You should ask yourself as often as possible, “How many markets are you going into this month?" Your answer to that question, more than almost anything else, will determine your success.

Once you know how many markets you want to open in a given month, sit down and plan out each step that must be taken in order to make that goal happen.

Use the assembly line method we spoke of earlier. Do your work in batches rather than one site at a time. Find good people who can help you with keyword research, website design and maintenance, and other tasks.

Keep a close eye on your results from each site or page. When you notice something has changed, increase or decrease in profits, get in there and try to track down the problem. Testing is the key to success in this business, and it is not something that you only have to do one time and then forget about it. Testing your sites, testing your content, your keywords, your key phrases, all of that is crucial to you staying on top.

IMPORTANT THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND:

There are many tips and tricks that you can use to improve your profitability with Adsense, but it is never a good idea to get too far away from the basics either.
For that reason, we have included here some of the more general aspects of using Adsense in order to maximizing its overall effectiveness.

When your content changes, so do your ads.

The technology behind Google AdSense goes beyond simple keyword or category matching. In essence, they try to understand your content and deliver ads that are relevant to specific pages, automatically, no matter how many thousands of pages your site may have, or how specialized or broad your content. With that being the case, as your content changes, Google's ads change to match.

What that means to you is that if you go changing your content too much; do not be surprised if the ads change as well.

And while many people complain about Google, they do offer some very useful safeguards which you may want to explore.

• Competitive ad filters. You can block competitive ads, or other ads you want to keep off your site, simply by telling them which URLs to block.
• Ad Review. Before ads appear on your site, they're reviewed using a combination of human and automated processes. The review process takes into account a variety of factors, including the quality of the ad and whether it's suitable for all audiences.
• Sensitive content filters. At times, certain ads may be inappropriate for some pages. For example, Google automatically filters out ads that would be inappropriate on a news page about a catastrophic event.
• Choose your own default ads. In the unlikely event that Google is unable to serve targeted ads on your page, they offer you the option of displaying a default ad of your choice. This ensures that your advertising space is always being used as effectively as possible.

Customize ads to complement your site.

Google offers you a lot of choices when it comes to design. While it is better to stick with the more traditional look, you can, if you wish to experiment or test, choose something else. They offer over 200 colors and 24 pre-set color palettes—you can create and save your own custom palettes using a simple point-and-click color selection tool.

One thing you simply must do is track your earnings with online reports.

You can monitor your ad performance with customizable online reports that offer details like the number of page impressions, clicks and click-through rate.

You can track the performance of specific ad formats, colors, and pages, which can help you, identify trends quickly. These reporting tools let you group your pages however you want, so you can gain insight into your earnings by viewing results by URL, domain, ad type, category and more.

Track your results online.

You can track the number of queries, clicks, click-through-rate—as well as your Adsense earnings—via a web-based account which you can easily update at any time.

As we said, this may not be for everyone, but for many marketers, this is a good option to look into. It offers a lot of perks.

We hope this guide has been useful to you. The only way that it will really be useful, however, is if you use the information contained within.

Now, please understand that some of the techniques that we have included in this guide may be too aggressive for you. Using them may make you nervous. If that is the case, you should avoid using them or try to modify them in such a way that you can sleep at night. There is nothing worse than being nervous over a business matter or a matter of conscious.

It is your job to maximize your site and to make it profitable, but do that within your own comfort zone.

We wish you all the best of luck.
